God Doesn’t Make A Nobody

In her book, “String Of Pearls,” Mary Crowley told a story about a watch she was given by Ethel Waters. It was a diamond watch. She wore the watch to remind her there were no unwanted children in God’s eyes.
You see, Ethel Waters was born to a fifteen-year-old girl. Her mother was he victim of rape in the slums of Philadelphia. By the standards of today’s world, she might have been aborted. But by God’s grace she was born and grew to become a model for her people and all people. She was a star of stage and screen, known for the wonderful song, “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”
Ethel gave Mary Crowley the diamond watch and said, “Where I’m going, I won’t be needed any clocks.”
God loves us all. As someone has said, “Though conceived in earthly fashion, we are born of the divine.”
