Good Words or Bad Words? It’s Our Choice

Think with me about how many words are spoken each day. I think it’s safe to say that thousands of words are spoken. And think about what those words are.
Some are good words…
Words like “I love you.”
Or, “I am proud of you.”
Or, “thank you”
Those are wonderful words… encouraging words…
But, there are some bad words spoken each day as well.
The “F” word is thrown around today routinely.
Someone may say, “I hate you!” Or, “you will never amount to anything.”
Sad, sad words.
Psalms 19:14 says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord my strength and my redeemer.”
I love that verse. When I was in the pastorate, I would often quote that verse when I would pray at the beginning of my sermon.
Today, as we head out the door, let’s remember that verse and let it guide us throughout the day.. “let the words of my mouth… and the meditations (thoughts) of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight..”
If we follow the teaching of that verse, we will not use profanity.
We will not use the “F” word.
We will use encouraging, God-honoring words. We will say “I love you.”
We will say “I’m proud of you.”
We will say, “You can do this.”
We will say, “Thank the Lord…”
So, as we head out the door… remember.. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O God, my strength and my redeemer.”
