Trust The Lord Not People

You are probably familiar with expression, “It’s not WHAT you know but WHO you know.” There is some truth to that statement but, it’s not all about WHO you know.
The Psalmist said, “Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there….But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper” (Psalms 146:3 & 5).
Think about that verse….it’s the exact opposite of what we are often told. We are told, “You need to know someone in a position of influence.”
We are told, “You need friends in high places.”
Again; I’m not denying that doesn’t help at times but it doesn’t work all the time. Several years ago, a church came open that was very appealing. I really wanted to go there. I had a handful of people tell me they were recommending me to the church. I felt confident I would have the opportunity to go to the church.
I never got a phone call. Not one. Not even someone saying they had the wrong number. So much for having friends in high places. It wasn’t God’s will for me to go there and God closed the door.
Don’t put your trust in people. God is our helper.
