Have you lost heart?
It happens. Life can be tough and sometimes, even though there is hope, the devil can make us think there isn’t any hope. Lots of people have gone through times in their lives when they briefly lost hope.
In II Samuel 17:10 the Bible says, “And even the one who is valiant, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will completely lose heart…” Hushai the Archite was giving counsel to Absalom, the son of David. He was saying that David’s men were strong and even the one who is “valiant…. whose heart is like the heart of a lion.. will completely lose heart.”
Life knocks us down. A swing comes out of nowhere… we lose a job… a child strays… we go through a divorce… money gets tight… and, we can lose heart. You can begin to think there is no hope but, there is.
That doesn’t mean things are going to get better over night. That doesn’t mean that, all of a sudden, you have a job… But, there is hope. As long as God is on the throne, there is hope.
So, if you’ve lost heart… if you think there is no hope… know this; God loves you and will care for you.
One of my favorite Bible passages is, “Thou the fig tree does not blossom and there be no fruit on the vine; though the yield of the olive should fail and there be no cattle in the stall… yet I will exult in Thee, O God” (Habakkuk 3:17-19).
