“Be Strong And Courageous”

One of the most memorable lines in American history is, “The only thing we have to fear; is fear itself!”
President Franklin D. Roosevelt said that in his first inaugural address. America was in the midst of the Great Depression. The spirit of Americans had plummeted. FDR was trying to give Americans hope in the midst of fear.
Fear is something we all face to some degree. For some, fear may be a major challenge while for others, fear is something they only deal with occasionally. Yet, fear is real and regardless how often we deal with it or, how large or small the challenge, fear is still real.
In the first chapter of Joshua, the man, Joshua is dealing with fear. Moses had just died. Now, Joshua was the leader of Israel. God knew this was a major challenge so, God spoke to Joshua and told him, “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.” Twice in those verses God says, “Be strong and courageous.”
Maybe you are facing a challenge today. Maybe there is a problem you are dealing with. Maybe you are dealing with fear… anxiety…
Listen to the lord…
“Gregg… be strong and courageous…”
“Charlie… be strong and courageous…”
“Holli… be strong and courageous…”
“Jeremy… be strong and courageous…”
“Deana…. be strong and courageous…”
“Myrna… be strong and courageous.”

“Will… Robert… and Sarah…Lauren, Kendall, Landon.. be strong and courageous.”
Whatever you are facing today… God says He will be with us just as He was with Joshua.
