Serving The Lord By Helping The Needy

Most of us have had the experience of coming to an intersection and seeing someone who is asking for help. When we see them, at times, we may be skeptical. We may think if we help them… if we give them money… they are going to take the money and buy alcohol or drugs… And they may.
But, there are some who are in legitimate need. Jesus said we are to help those people
In Matthew 25, Jesus told a story about a time when He would return. When He does, He will gather all the nations before Him like a shepherd gathers the sheep before him. Then, Jesus will says, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father… inherit the Kingdom prepared for you… For I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you invited me into your home… naked and you clothed me… in prison and you visited me…I was sick and you cared for me.”
Then, they will ask, “Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Thirsty and give you drink? In prison and visit you? Naked and clothe you? A stranger and take you in…?
Jesus said, “To the extent that you did it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.”
So, we serve Christ by helping the less fortunate and doing it with no recognition whatsoever. I encourage you today to be on the lookout for people who need help. As we minister to them, we minister to the Lord.
