“I Will See The Goodness Of The Lord In The Land Of The Living”

Are you going through a tough time, a time of adversity? A time of trials? If you are, you certainly aren’t alone; lots of people are. Life is filled with trials and adversity. And for the Christian, we deal with trials through our faith.
In Psalm 27, David was going through some adversity. David says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” David was going through some hard times.
Evidently the Lord was not answering David’s prayer as quickly as he thought he would. David prayed, “Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me,
O God of my salvation!”
So, David is struggling and he seems to be doubting God. But then, David’s mood changes. In verse 14, David prays, “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.”
I LOVE that verse! I am CONFIDENT, I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.”
David was struggling. He was hurting… And evidently David had some doubts if God was going to come through.
But, David set the doubts aside and said, “I know…. I know… I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
David had faith. Maybe you are struggling today. Maybe you are going through some trials. We can, like David, believe that we WILL see the goodness of the Lord. That doesn’t mean the trials are going to end immediately. For that matter, whatever we are dealing with may drag on for a while. But, even in the midst of trials, God promises to take care of us…
Like David, let us pray and believe that we WILL see the “…goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
