Manna And Quail – God’s Basic Provision

Manna and quail.
That’s what God gave Israel for forty years!
Forty years!
That’s what they ate.
I don’t know about you but I get tired of left-overs after a day. Can you imagine eating the same thing for forty years! But that’s what God gave Israel.
That story is a reminder that God has promised to provide for us. Now God didn’t say we could eat in a restaurant every night. God didn’t say we could take a couple of trips a year or even one trip a year.
God said He would provide for us. That means, food, basic shelter… basic transportation. He didn’t promise us anything more.
Now, in our spoiled society we think we are entitled to more. We think we are entitled to travel and nice clothes and entertainment. But we aren’t. We are promised the basics.
So today, be thankful for God’s basic provision… and be thankful we don’t have to eat manna and quail for forty years. 🙂
