Tick… tick… tick….
The clock is ticking down to the end of 2017. At the time of this writing, we have about fourteen hours left… about eight-hundred-and-forty minutes… We have burned through three-hundred-and-sixty-four days this year.
What kind of year was it? Was it a good year? Or, was it the type of year you would say, “I don’t think I would write home about it.” Or, someone may say, “I can’t WAIT for this year to be over.”
Well, the good news is, 2018 gives you the opportunity to start over. In about fourteen hours, we will turn the page to a brand-new year. So, what do you want to change?
Making new year’s resolutions is not change. Change comes when we change something we are doing. I have to lose some weight. I intend to change my eating habits.       I have to. Whether I like it or not.
What about you? What will you change?
Do you want to save some money? Ok, you need to set aside $5, $10, $25 or more to save money. Money doesn’t just hop into our savings accounts.
You want to get in shape? You need to start exercising. Start walking… You don’t even have to join a gym to exercise.
Whatever mistake you made in 2018, it’s over. If you have asked the Lord for forgiveness, it’s done. You are forgiven. Now, set that aside and move forward.
The apostle Paul challenged us, “Forgetting what lies behind, we press on…” Leave the mistakes of 2017 behind. Learn from them and move forward. The late Dean Smith said this regarding mistakes; “Recognize it, admit it, learn from it and forget it.” That’s good advice for all of us.
John Maxwell says that for years he had a sign on his desk that read, “Yesterday ended last night.”
Tomorrow, we could put that sign on our wall….”Last year, ended last night.”
It’s a new year and an opportunity for a new you. Let’s press on!
