God Gives Us A New Covenant – Written On Our Heart

How does a person get right with God? This is a question man has asked for years. In attempt to be right, man has tried to be a good person, thinking a good moral life will surely get one to heaven. Others have tried building altars thinking that would please God.
God gave Israel the 10 Commandments. The idea was if Israel would obey the 10 Commandments they would be right with God. The only problem was, Israel, like you and I, was human. Human beings are flawed. We simply aren’t righteous enough to be right with God.
So, God knew Israel was going to need a different way. So, God determined to give Israel a new covenant. This convenant would be different from the first. God said in Ezekiel, “The day is coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and led them out of the land of Egypt. They did not remain faithful to my covenant, so I turned my back on them, says the Lord. But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,[c] says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”
Notice God said, “… I will put my laws in their minds and I will write them on their hearts.” But HOW would god write a covenant on our hearts? It happens when we ask Jesus Christ into our hearts to forgive us of our sins. when that happens, we have a heart transformation.
You and I simply are incapable of doing enough good or being good enough to go to heaven. It’s not going to happen. That could leave us hopeless…. knowing we can’t fix our hearts. But God, in His grace, came up with another way… He sent His only Son to this earth to die for man’s sins and when we accept His Son as our Savior, our hearts are changed. The new covenant is written on our hearts.
Thank the Lord for our Savior!
