Why Jesus Should Be The Most Important Person In Our Lives

Why should a person worship Jesus? Why should a person give their life to Christ? What makes Jesus so special?
There are many reasons but the main one is Jesus died for our sins. Jesus gave His life so our sins could be forgiven. In the New Testament, He is described as our great High Priest.
A few days ago, I talked about the role of the great high priest in the Old Testament sacrificial system. Every year, on the Day of Atonement, the great high priest would offer a sacrifice for the sins of the people. He would take a basin filled with blood and he would enter the Holy of Holies. That is where the ark of the covenant was and the mercy seat. The great high priest would sprinkle blood on the mercy seat and the sins of the people would be covered for another year. This process had to be repeated annually.
But when Jesus came, He became our great high priest. When Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, He paid the price for our sins. That doesn’t have to happen every year. Jesus did it once for all.
Hebrews 7:26-27 says, “He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven. Unlike those other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins.”
Notice the writer says, “…unlike other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day…”
Jesus Christ loves us more than anyone will ever love us. Jesus did for us what no one else could do. He gave His life so our sins could be forgiven.
Worship Jesus today. Give Jesus honor. Jesus deserves to be number one in our lives.
