Every day we choose our attitude. We can have a good attitude or, we can choose a bad attitude. It’s our choice.
An excellent model for a good attitude is to have the attitude that Jesus had. Paul wrote in Philippians 2:5-8, “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.” Ok, what attitude did Jesus have? Paul continues, “Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
Notice Paul said, “though he was God… he didn’t regard that as something to cling to.” Jesus humbled himself… even to the point of death. Jesus had an attitude of humility.
Humility is sorely lacking in our society. Everyone has an opinion and no one seems to want to listen to others. Paul also says, “… He gave up his divine privileges… and took the position of a slave.
What is your attitude like? Are you willing to give up something to help others or, are you constantly talking about your rights? Do you think it’s beneath you to serve? Jesus took the position of a slave.
We need good people with the attitude of Christ in our churches. Have you been asked to serve but you don’t want to give up your Sunday School class? Has you Sunday School class been asked to swap rooms and you don’t care for it?
I encourage you to have a good attitude. You don’t have to be wealthy to have a good attitude. You don’t have to be extremely intelligent to have a good attitude. You don’t have to be athletic to have a good attitude. Anyone can have a good attitude and for the Christian, the attitude of Jesus is the best attitude to have.
