What does it mean to live the Christian life? Is it all about worship? Worship is definitely part of it. But notice I said “part” of it. You can go to church eery day of your life but, if that’s all your Christian life consists of, it’s missing some important things.
The people of Israel were guilty of “religious ceremony” but their hearts were not right. In Isaiah 1:14-15, the prophet Isaiah said, “I want no more of your pious meetings. I hate your new moon celebrations and your annual festivals.
They are a burden to me. I cannot stand them! When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen,
for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.”
Notice the Lord said, “I want no more of your pious meetings…. ” Israel appeared pious… but it was all a ritual.. it was all a show. We can be guilty of the same.
Worship is important. But if your Christian life consists of nothing but going to church every week, we are missing it. Living for Christ means helping others. It means sharing the love of Jesus. It means being right with your fellow man. It means not judging others.
Let’s evaluate our lives. Is our heart right with God? You might respond, “Oh yes, I LOVE God’s word.” That’s great but that’s not the question. You can claim to LOVE God’s word but maybe God’s word isn’t having the impact on you that it should.
Or, you might respond, “Oh yes, I love God. I never miss worship.” Again, that’s good but that’s not the question. You can worship every week… you can go through the motions but your heart may not be right.
If your heart is right with God it will lead you to worship but it was also lead you to serve and show kindness to others. It will prevent us from judging others.
Make sure your faith leads to a change of heart and not just religious show.
