“Never, Never, Never, Never, Give Up”

Do you ever want to just throw up your hands and quit? Most of us have. Life can get frustrating.
You work on something and work on it and work on it and.. frustration can set in and you give up. It’s easy to quit… it’s more difficult to persevere.
In II Corinthians 4:15-16 the apostle Paul is talking about the gospel advancing. Then he says, “All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.”
Notice that Paul says, “…as God’s grace reaches more and more people…” Then he adds, “… that is why we never give up.”
Paul was focused on the gospel advancing and he said the gospel advancing was why he never gave up. Paul was focused on a worthy cause that kept him motivated… it kept him going.
In the last verse Paul says, “…though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” Paul was encouraged and motivated by the fact that the gospel was advancing. And that encouraged him and kept him going.
Maybe you are about to quit. You are about to throw in the towel. Don’t go it. Hang in there. You may need some motivation but, you need to stay at it.
It’s probably one of the shortest speeches ever but also one of the most memorable. Two years into WWII, Winston Churchill was invited to return to his school the Harrow School to give a commencement speech. Churchill stood to speak and said very simply, “Never, never, never, never give up” and he sat down. That was his speech.
Today… don’t quit. Let Churchill’s speech speak to you… “never, never, never give up.”
