God Comforts Us So We Can Comfort Others

Are you going through a tough time? And if you are, are you questioning why? Well, we may not always understand “why?” but, there is one thing that we can do as a result of ur adversity; we can comfort others who are going through it.
In II Corinthians 1:3, the apostle Paul said, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” The people in Corinth were going through a tough time. Paul tells them that God comforts them so that they can comfort others who will go through adversity.
When you are going through some tough times, people may tell you they feel for you and you are thankful for that. But if someone says, “I feel for you, I’ve gone through the same thing…” we are really encouraged by that because we feel like that person really understands what we are dealing with.
Years ago, a lady who taught school with my wife lost a child in an accident. We went to the hospital and stayed there a couple of hours. This lady was sitting in a hall with her head buried in her hands. Various people came through and told them they were praying for them. She listened but never looked.
But then, an elderly man came through who had also lost a son to an accident. He knelt down in front of her, introduced himself and then said something like, “I know how you feel… I lost a son in an accident too.”
Hearing that, the lady lowered her hands and looked at this man. It was like, “Ok, I appreciate what everyone else has said but, you KNOW how I feel,” and he did.
It may be that someone is going through what you have gone through. If so, God can use to comfort someone. “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.”
