“I’ve Got Peace Like A River”

Have you ever had someone say to you, “I have peace about it.” Or, maybe, “I’m not sure about that… I don’t have peace about it.”
When we have peace, we are comfortable. We are at ease. We aren’t troubled. On the other hand, when we don’t have peace, we are anxious. We may be dreading doing something because we don’t have peace.
Psalms 3:2 says, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.”
Do you ever have trouble sleeping? Do you ever struggle with insominia? It’s no fun at all. But, you may not struggle with insomnia but still, you can struggle at times, with sleep. When we are at ease… when we are at peace, sleep is natural. When we are troubled, we can struggle with sleep.
What causes us, at times, to not have peace? It could be a relationship problem. It could be financial problems. Maybe a problem at work or, with your job.
The peace the Psalmist referred to comes through praying, reading scripture and trusting the Lord. Now, someone may say, “I do that and I still struggle to sleep.” I understand. So, we have to continue praying and know that God will put our minds at ease.
We can live at peace.
As the old song goes;
“I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river.
I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.
I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river.
I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.”
