The Lord Is Our Helper

Ok, you need some help. You need to talk with someone with some clout. Someone with some influence.
Your mind begins to roll through your mental roadex. You come to a name and you think, “Yes, he or she can help me.” So, you make a call and get an appointment.
You go and see this person whom you are sure, can help you. But, they tell you there is nothing they can do. So, you’ve talked to everyone you can think of but you have gotten nowhere. Then, you go where you should have gone to begin with; the Lord.
Psalm 146:3-5 says, “Don’t put your confidence in powerful people, there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
Notice the Psalmist says, “Don’t put your confidence in people…”. I confess, I heve at times been guilty of that. We can have a tendency to think “It’s not WHAT you know but WHO you know.” But the WHO you know should be the Lord rsther than people.
At the end the Psalmist says, “But joyful are those who have God as their helper.”
So, who are you putting your trust in? Is it someone you thank has influence? Or is it the Lord?
Psalm 121 says, “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains, from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord.”
