God Used Peter And God Can Use Us

One of the greatest examples of grace in the Bible is the story of Simon Peter. Simon was one of Jesus’ inner circle yet, the Bible says that on the night of Jesus betrayal, on three occasions, Simon denied knowing Jesus.
So, it’s over for Simon Peter right? I mean, he denied knowing Jesus. He did exactly what Jesus predicted. The future didn’t look good for him.
But then, the Bible says that following Jesus resurrection He met Peter on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. There, He asked Simon if he loved Him? Peter was honest and said,       “Lord, I don’t love you like I should… but I do love you”
Hearing this, Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”
Jesus asked Peter a second time, “Do you love me more than these?”
Again, Peter said, “Lord, I love you but not like I should.”
Then Jesus asked Peter a third time and Peter said, “Lord, again, you know I love you but I don’t love you like I should.”
Again, Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”
So, what happened with Peter? Well, fast forward the tape…. On the day of Pentecost, thousands of people were in Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost. The Bible says the Holy Spirit came down in mighty form and Peter preached the first Christian sermon in history. And, there are two books in the Bible that bear Peter’s name. The same man who denied knowing Jesus, would be used by the Lord.
God can use us as well. Ok, so you have messed up. Who hasn’t?
We have all slipped.. we have all made mistakes… Yet God can use us.
Just because you have slipped doesn’t render you useless in God’s service. God used Peter and God can use us.
