Making Good Decisions

“Are you SURE you want to do this?”
Has everyone ever asked you that or have you ever asked someone that? Maybe you were about to do something that was kind of risky and a friend or family member asked, “Ok, are you sure about this?”
Or, maybe you know someone that was about to do something that you felt was foolish and you asked them, “Ok, are you SURE about this?”
Proverbs 13:15 says, “Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness.”
“Wise people THINK… before they act.” Is there some decision you made that you could kick yourself for? Do you find yourself looking back and thinking, “WHY did I do that?’
Maybe you are about to make a decision…. Whatever you are considering sounds like a good idea but, in the back of your mind, you aren’t sure. Be careful… “wise people THINK before they act.”
Back in the book of Genesis, Abraham and his nephew lot were about to split their cattle up. Abraham gave Lot first choice. Lot chose the region of Sodom because it had great pasture-lands but, it also had a terrible reputation. However, Lot overlooked all that and chose to dwell in Sodom. Later his decision would cost him his wife.
The flip side of all this is that some people glory in bad decisions. They like to brag about them. We all make mistakes… but we shouldn’t foolishly boast about them.
Are you about to make a decision on something? Think before you act… Or there is an old saying that advises us, “Measure twice, cut once”
