The Demands Of The Christian Life; Love God & Love People

Sunday of Holy Week was the Triumphal Entry of Jesus. Then, Jesus cursed the fig tree. Then, one day a Pharasaic lawyer asked Jesus a question. He asked, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus answered, ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and the most important commandment. 39 The second most important commandment is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
In this reply, Jesus summed up all the ten commandments. When He said, “Love the Lord your god with all your heart, with all your soul and mind…” Jesus was covering the first four commandments. Then, when Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” He summed up the final six commandments.
This week, we devote time to thinking about the last days of Jesus. As we do, we think about our Christian lives. Do we love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind and do we love our neighbor as ourself?
In short, is Jesus first in our lives and do we care for our fellow man?  We should ponder these questions this week.
