What is the key to success? What do we have to do to be successful at anything?
The answer to that question is simple… it’s work. That means not taking short-cuts but working hard.
Proverbs 12:11 says, “A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies has no sense.” Think about that verse… “a hard worker has plenty… a person who chases fantasies has on sense.” Chasing a fantasy is jumping on every get-rich-quick scheme that comes around. It means chasing every shortcut. But success comes from hard work.
I love sports so I’ve read a lot in that area. I read years ago that one year, after the Boston Celtics had won the NBA Championship, the very next day, Larry Bird was already running getting in shape for the next season. He was out-working the competition.
There are times when someone is successful because they are naturally gifted at a sport or maybe a natural business person. But, even though they are naturally gifted, you still have to work to develop your skills.
Someone has said, “the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.”
So, don’t chase fantasies, or get-rich quick schemes. Determine to work hard and ultimately, we will be successful.
