Jesus Calms The Storms Of Life

Country musician Randy Travis has a song entitled, “The Storms Of Life.”
Part of the lyrics go;
“I’d better change my wandering ways I know I”ve seen my better days
Always gettin’ high when I get low.
When I left my soul out in the rain Lord what a price I’ve had to pay
Storms of life are washin’ me away.”
Is a storm raging in your life? Or, maybe it’s not raging but, you are living with s small storm? It happens. Most of us have been in storm of some type at some point in our lives.
The Bible says, that on one occasion, Jesus and the disciples were in a boat on a lake when a storm came up. Jesus was taking a nap and the disciples were terrified. They awakened Jesus and said, “Master, Master, we are going to drown.” But Jesus rebuked he wind and the raging waves. Suddenly, the storm stopped and all was calm. (Luke 8:22-25)
Think about those last three words…. all was calm. A few seconds before, the water was hitting the side of the boat and the disciples were concerned it was going to turn over. A few seconds earlier, the disciples were afraid they were about to drown but… Jesus spoke to the storm and it subsided.
Is there a storm raging in your life? Maybe it’s a financial storm? Maybe you are struggling with depression? Maybe your msrriage is struggling? Maybe your job is tough? Maybe things aren’t the best at your church right now? Maybe your mind feels cloudy every day.
Whatever storm we are facing, Jesus will help us with it. Sometimes He calms the storm. Sometimes, Jesus gives us the strength to live with the storm. If you are facing a storm, Jesus will help you.
There is an old gospel song that goes;
“I’ve seen the lightning flashing,
I’ve heard the thunder role.
I’ve felt sins breakers dashing, Trying to conquer my soul.
I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, telling me still to fight on,
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.”
