Our Fortress Is The Lord

What is your hope or your happiness based on? Is it your bank account? Do you feel good about life as long as you have a decent amount of money to fall back on?
Or, is it your job? Do you have a title and position that really makes you feel secure?
Or maybe, it’s your friends? You have some good friends and when you are wth them, you feel pretty good about life.
All of the above are nice but, our happiness, our security, cannot be based on that. Those things will fail you.
Psalms 62:1-2 says, “I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.”
Think about that verse… “He alone is my rock and my salvation… my fortress where I will never be shaken.” A fortress is something that is supposed to be impenetrable. We feel safe and secure in our fortress. David is something that God is his fortress…
So what does all this mean? It means that our lives, our happiness, our well-being should be based on our relationship with the Lord. The Lord is our fortress.
When your bank account gets low or maybe non-existent, we are trusting in the Lord who promised to provide for us.
If our friends let us down or abandon us… we are trusting in the Lord who will never let us down. If we lose our job or take a pay-cut, we are trusting in the Lord.
Our happiness.. our well-being… our security in life, doesn’t come from external things… it comes from walking with the Lord.
As the Psalmist said, “He alone is my rock and salvation, my FORTRESS, where I will never be shaken.”
