Happiness Comes From Doing God’s Will

Question for you this morning; “Did God make you?”
I sure hope you answered yes to that one. 🙂
Ok, assuming you are with me so far, if God made you (and He did), then God loves you and knows you better than anyone does.
Ok, so if God made you and God knows you, then God knows what’s best for us. And if God knows what’s best for us then, we will be the happiest, when we are doing God’s will in our lives.
Which brings me to this… are you happy? Because if we are doing God’s will in our lives then, we should be happy. That doesn’t mean that every day is great. That doesn’t mean we never have bad days. But, even when we have a bad day, we are able to handle it better because we know we are doing what we enjoy and what God wants us to do.
The Psalmist said, “I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart” (Psalms 40:8). Notice the Psalmist says, “I take joy in doing your will….”
The Psalmist LOVED being obedient to God and doing God’s will. Ok so, what about you? Are you happy? If not, it may very well be because you are out of God’s will for your life.
Maybe there is something you have been asked to do but you are resisting. Maybe you are doing something and honestly, you are not comfortable in it… maybe the money is good but you are not happy. Maybe it’s because you are out of God’s will.
As a Pastor, there were many times I was frustrated on Monday. Most of the time it was due to lower than expected attendance. But at times, it was due to something in a committee meeting or something like that. And, there were many days I wanted to resign but I couldn’t. Because I knew I was doing God’s will in my life. Make sure you are in the center of God’s will because if you are, that’s where you will be the happiest.
