Do you like to wait?
Neither do I.
Most people don’t. But, whether we like it or not, we are going to wait on some things. The Bible tells us, we must be patient and wait on the Lord.
Psalms 40:1 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord to help me and he turned to me and heard my cry.” Notice the Psalmist said, “I waited patiently for the Lord.”
I will be honest; I am TERRIBLE at waiting. It is a constant struggle for me. But, waiting is part of life.
Why does the Lord make us wait? At times, it may be that our prayer request is wrong. At other times, maybe we are not ready for what we are asking. God is sovereign and knows what’s best for us so at times, God makes us wait.
There is an old saying that God answers prayer in one of three ways; “Yes,” “No,” or “Wait.” We like one of those responses…. “Yes.” The other two, we don’t care for much.
I think that at least part of the trick to waiting on the Lord is trusting God. There may be something we want and we want it at that moment. It may be that God is going to grant it but not at that moment so, we have to wait and trust God.
Today, maybe you are waiting on something. Maybe you are praying for direction but don’t seem to be getting much direction. Maybe you are praying for something in the form of provision… Whatever it is, we can trust God. God will provide… and God will guide us but there are times when we have to sit in God’s waiting room. It’s not because the Doctor is out…. Maybe God is just shaping us, His children. Whatever it may be, God loves us. WE can trust the Lord and wait on Him.
