Life Is Short – Be Wise

How long do you expect to live? Have you ever thought about it?
You might respond, “Well, I try not to think about it… I just try to enjoy life and live from day to day.”
Someone else might respond, “Yes, I have thought about it…based on my family history, I expect to live …..”
Psalms 39:4-5 says, “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.”
Our lives are like a moment to God. Think about that… our entire lifetime is like a moment in time to God. Ok, so what does all this mean to us?
It means life is short and we need to be prepared for death. What do we need to do to be prepared for death? First, we need to make sure we are ready for eternity. That means, believing in Jesus as Savior. One day everyone of us is going to die. When we do, the Bible says there are two places everyone can go; one place is called heaven and the other is hell. We need to make sure we are ready for heaven. The only way we go to heaven is by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior.
Secondly, we need to live for the Lord We will face judgment. And when we do, we need to be able to look back at our life and see that we have lived for the Lord.
Life is short… so, we need to make sure we are using our time wisely. Are you spending time with your family and friends? Are you helping others? Or, are you a workaholic… spending all your time at work? Or, is there something that is rather foolish that you are spending your time in?
Life is short.. like a moment to God… so spend it wisely.
