Needed today; Honesty and Integrity

Honesty and integrity are two character traits that we need more of today. Think about it; you may talk with someone and they say something that gets your attention. As you mull that over in your mind you think, “Well.. if they are telling the truth.”
IF they are telling the truth. We shouldn’t have to wonder IF someone is telling the truth but unfortunately, you can’t believe everything you hear. I admit, I can be gullible. I have a tendency to believe more of what I hear than I should.
Years ago, a book was written entitled, “The Day America Told The Truth.” One man asked people questions and told them they could be honest and not fear any repercussions. He wrote a book based on the responses he heard.
But there shouldn’t be just one day where America tells the truth. That should happen every day.
Proverbs 10:9 says, “People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.”
Think about that verse… “people with integrity walk safely…” Are you a person of integrity? Can people trust you to tell the truth?
Someone has said, “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember what you said.”
The ninth commandment says, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:;16).
We need more people of integrity. We need to be honest with people. We need to be trustworthy.
I forget the name of the movie but it has Jack Nicholson in it. At one point someone says, “I want the truth!” Jack Nicholson’s character responds, “You can’t handle the truth!” If not, we need to grow to a point that we can.
Today and every day, strive to be honest in all you do .
