How Do You Serve Christ?

How do you serve Christ? For lots of people, you get involved in a local church and you serve in some capacity and that is a way to serve. For others, it may be to get involved in a local para-church ministry and that is also a way to serve Christ. But in Matthew 25, Jesus told us how we should serve Christ.
Jesus said that when He returns in all His glory and His angels come with Him, all the nations will be gathered before Him and they will be separated as a shepherd separates his flock. The sheep will be placed on the right and the goats on the left.
Then, the King will say to those on His right; ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Then, that same process is repeated for those on His left.. the goats. Except, they didn’t serve God and they were punished. Think about what Jesus is saying…
Service for Christ means helping people…. specifically people who are down and out… people who are hurting…
“I was hungry… you fed me…”
“I was thirsty… you gave me a drink…”
“I was a stranger…. you invited me into your home…”
“I was naked… you gave me clothing…”
“I was sick, and you cared for me…”
“I was in prison and you visited me…”
Are you serving Christ? Are you helping those who are down and out. Living for Christ is more than just going to church.. it means helping others. And when we do, we heard the approval of Jesus.
