Jesus Gives Us Rest

We live in a very busy world. It seems that lots of people are blowing and going. We have jobs. Many have children who have activities. If we don’t have children, we are busy with civic groups and other things. Many people are very busy in their church. And, all of our busyness can lead to fatigue.
Or, maybe you aren’t really a busy person from the standpoint of activity but, you are tired of trying to please someone or, you are tired of dealing with someone who is draining you physically or spiritually. Or, maybe you are constantly trying to gain someone’s approval.
In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said, ““Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light (Matt. 11:28-30).”
Notice that Jesus says… “…I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and… find rest for your souls.” With lots of people, to earn their approval, we have to do certain things. Not so with Jesus. Jesus says, “Come to me and I will give you rest.”
Jesus loves us. Jesus made us. Jesus knows how we tick. He accepts us and wants to give us rest. You don’t have to be busy 365/24/7 to earn Jesus approval. In fact, Jesus would rather you slow down
You don’t have to try to act religious for Jesus to love you and accept you. Jesus tells us to just give Him our lives.
You don’t have to do anything for Jesus to give us rest. All we need to do is place our lives in His hands. That’s it.
So, if you are tired… if you are discouraged… if your are down… Jesus says, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you…. and you will find rest for your souls…”
