Mistakes are part of life. We all make them. And those who say they haven’t are either filled with pride or haven’t done much in their lives. So mistakes will happen.
We are human. We are sinners. We often succumb to temptation.
And when we sin, at times, Christians can make us feel like it is over. God could not possibly use us again. But that is most definitely not true.
You want a great example? Let’s look at the apostle Paul.
Paul says in I Timothy 1:12-13, “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.”
Notice how Paul words it… “.. Christ Jesus… considered me trustworthy…. EVEN though I used to blaspheme the name of God.” Paul was blaspheming the name of God. BLASPHEMING! So, you would think if anyone is unforgivable, Paul would have been a possibility. But, Paul says,… “But God had mercy on me…”
I love those words.. “But God had MERCY on me.”
We all need mercy. And more mercy and more mercy….
So, maybe God is dealing with you. Maybe God is convicting you.. moving you to service. But you think you’ve messed up too bad.
Hear me Christian… Hear me CHURCH; “THERE AIN’T NOBOBY THAT’S MESSED UP SO BAD THAT GOD CAN’T USE THEM! NOBODY!”
We so badly need to grasp this concept today. We go to church and sing about grace, hear sermons about grace and talk about grace but, when it comes to practicing grace, we flunk.
The man who wrote thirteen letters in the New Testament said, “I used to blaspheme the name of God…. but God showed me mercy.”
If God showed Paul mercy, He will show you mercy. Don’t think you are a has-been. Don’t think you are a miserable failure. God loves you and will use you. God will show you mercy.
And God wants us to show others mercy. Is there someone you need to forgive? Someone you need to ask to serve? Our loving Heavenly Father reached down and called a man who was killing Christians to serve. He’s still doing it..
