Jesus Binds Up The Broken-Hearted

      The first half of Isaiah’s prophecy is about Isaiah telling Israel they are about to be punished. The second half is about God telling Israel there is hope even though they will be punished. Think about that… even though Israel had been unfaithful to God, there was hope.
      To demonstrate that hope, Isaiah says, “The Spirit of the Lord
GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;” (Isaiah 61:1).
      Bible scholars refer to that text as one of the “Suffering servant” texts in Isaiah and Jesus is the Suffering servant.
      The suffering servant brought;
Good news to the captives…
He will bind up the brokenhearted..
He will proclaim liberty to the captives…
Freedom to the prisoners
      Jesus does that for us. He wants us to share this message with others.
       Are you brokenhearted? Only Jesus can help you pick up the pieces. I heard recently about a young person who had dating someone several years…but they broke up. That young person is broken-hearted.
      Maybe you are in bondage to drugs or alcohol. You want to quit but it’s tough. Jesus can free us from captivity.
       Just as the Spirit of the Lord was on the Suffering Servant, He’s on us as well. He wants us to share His good news with the broken-hearted.
      Earlier this week I asked for prayer. I was hunbled by the number of people who responded. Through social media, lots of people were made aware that I was down and the Lord used that to lift my spirits. Lift someone’s spirits today.
