How To Live In A Tough World

The world can be a cold place.
You’ve heard the phrase “it’s a dog eat dog world?” That ain’t far from the truth. It is a tough world.
It’s a competitive world. Every one is trying to make a dollar.
It can be a cruel world. Nice is the right way to do things but, nice doesn’t always win. The good guy doesn’t always win. Sometimes, the dishonest person wins and leaves you pondering, “why, Lord?”
There are times when life does not make sense but, it’s life and you have to move on. In that world… how does the Christian survive?
In II Corinthians 13:11, the apostle Paul told the Corinthians to “be joyful…” Ok, that’s a nice verse but let’s be honest, how do you do it? How can you be joyful in a dog-eat-dog world? We have to focus on the Lord and our joy can’t come from the things we experience.
If our joy is based on external things we won’t have much joy. Someone will always have more money, a nicer car, a larger house etc… Our joy is based on our relationship with Christ.
Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Jesus wants us to have joy.
Your salary is not who you are.
Your house is not who you are.
Your car is not who you are.
Your education is not who you are.
Now, the world will try to make you think that, but it’s not true. If you are a Christian, you are a child of the king…regardless of income, color, car or education. We are children of God.
