Don’t Waste Your Life On Alcohol

Have you ever seen a liquor or beer advertisement on TV? They make it seem like, if you drink this beer or this alcohol, man, life is going to be great. You are going to be surrounded by beautiful women and you are going to have one great party! Or, so the ad makes it seem.
And, unfortunately, lots of people have bought into that lie. There are people who seem to think you simply can’t have a good time in life if you aren’t drinking, getting drunk or, wasted from alcohol. But that is a lie from the pit of hell.
In Isaiah 5, the prophet Isaiah said, “What sorrow for those who get up early in the morning looking for a drink of alcohol and spend long evenings drinking wine
to make themselves flaming drunk. They furnish wine and lovely music at their grand parties—lyre and harp, tambourine and flute—but they never think about the Lord or notice what he is doing.” Think about what Isaiah said… “What sorrow for those who get up early looking for a drink.” Sorrow? Yep, that’s what Isaiah said, And, who spend long evenings looking for a drink.
Isaiah added, “… they never think about the Lord or notice what he is doing…” That verse describes the condition of our nation to be. There seems to be little reverence for God or desire for God unless we are in an emergency and we cry out to God.
Today is Friday. What are your weekend plans? Or you planning to get together with your friends and get wasted? That may seem like fun but ultimately, it doesn’t pay off. When the alcohol gets out of our system, “Real world 101” sets back in. If you want to find permanent happiness and peace, it’s found in knowing God.
Don’t spend your life looking for alcohol or beer… instead, devote your life to knowing God and doing His will.
