We Still Sin After Asking Christ Into Our Hearts

Two questions; 1) Are you a Christian and, 2) Do you still sin?
I hope you answered “yes” to both… not that I want you to sin but, we are human and we will sin. But, many people do not think you will sin again.
When we ask Christ into our hearts, our sins are eternally forgiven. But, that doesn’t mean we will never sin again. We will sin because our old nature still lives within us. Our old habits are there and our old temptations. Just because you accept Christ doesn’t mean you will never sin again.
Paul dealt with this in Romans 6:6-7. Paul writes, “We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.” Notice Paul said “…our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ.”
That means that are old habits… temptations… have to be crucified each day. You can win the battle one day, but the temptation continues to come back. Just because we are saved does not mean we will never sin again.
So, how do you deal with temptation? It starts by being aware of how Satan works. Satan will not leave us alone. The Bible says he is “…on the prowl seeking whom he may devour.”
We must be aware of Satan’s strategy and also, we must be aware of weaknesses. Everyone of us have flaws. Be honest and determine what your flaw is and know that Satan will attack you there. Every day, our old habits have to be crucified. Else, Satan will trip us up and we will fall.
