“I’ve Got The Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down In My Heart!”

“I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart.
Where?
Down in my heart.
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart.
Down in my heart to stay..”
Do you remember that little song? I’m thinking we used to sing it at VBS. It’s a cute little song and fun to sing.
“I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart..”
Think about that sentence. “I’ve got the joy, joy…” Ok, it’s a cute song but, do you really have joy? Hopefully you do. But let’s be honest, there are LOTS of people who have no joy or, at the least they have little joy. If you don’t believe me, look at people the next time you go to church. I mean, some folks, do not appear to have much joy!
In Psalm 51, David prayed to God, “Restore the joy of my salvation.” David had sinned by having an affair with Bathsheba. He had no joy because there was unconfessed sin in his life.
What can steal our joy?
Unconfessed sin can do it.
Bitterness between you and another person can do it.
Problems at church can do it.
Living a lifestyle that involves things that are not God’s will can do it.
So, question; Do YOU have joy? if you don’t you can. Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.
Jesus wants us to have joy. If you don’t have it, do some soul-searching. There might be some unconfessed sin or a strained relationship in your life.
