Even Minister’s Have Feet Of Clay

I have been in ministry for thirty-five years. During that time I have periodically seen sonething that always bothers me & that is people worshiping a Minister. It happens and it’s not good.
In Acts 14, the apostle Paul was in Lystra. A man was healed and the people thought Paul and Barnabas were gods. Paul responded, “Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings—just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things…”.
Notice Paul says “we are merely human beings – just like you!” We are ALL human. No Minister comes close to being God-like. But, I’ve known people who worship a Minister. How does this happen?
Normally it happens when a man has been at a church a long time. When that happens, a Minister is with families during sickness, death, marriage etc  Naturally, that Minister becomes special.
Or maybe a church grew a lot under one man’s ministry and he becomes the standard for those who will follow. There is nothing wrong with loving a particular Minister. Just dont worship Him. Like Paul said, “we are humans too.”
Even Minister’s have feet of clay. “Feet of clay” is an expression that refers to the flaws a person has. No one, not even a Minister is perfect.
One last note…Minister’s will let you down. They are human. They make mistakes just like everyone else. If your faith is in a Minister, you will likely fall by the wayside if a man falls. Your faith should not be in a man but in Jesus Christ!
