Our Help Comes From The Lord

Two devotional posts this morning…
All of us need help at times. But where do you go for help? Do you call a friend? Ok, that works. We all need good friends at times. But, friends aren’t alway there.
Do you ask a neighbor? That’s ok too, at times. But the neighbor may not always be there.
What about family? Yeah, we can call our family when we need help. That’s good too, but let’s say you live a long way from family? What do you do?
The Psalmist says, “I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalms 121:1-2).
Like the Psalmist, our help comes from the Lord as well. Whatever you are facing today, you can get help from the Lord. The Lord provides for us, guides us, protects us and directs us. Our help comes from the Lord!
An old missionary was asked how he managed to get through the night? The essence of his answer was, “I thought at first I couldn’t possibly sleep. The floor was hard and was concerned and anxious. But then, I started talking with the Lord. I was reminded of Psalm 121; “My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He shall not allow thy foot to slip. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
The missionary added, “I was greatly struck by those words, “He will neither slumber nor sleep.” I thought, “Lord, there really isn’t any use in both of us staying awake. So if your going to keep watch, I’ll thank you for some sleep.”
