Yesterday was my birthday. I’m fifty-five! It seems like yesterday I was forty!
I took some time to reflect yesterday. As I did, several things came to mind that I am thankful for.
First, I am thankful for a Savior who died for me. Without Jesus sacrificial death on the cross, I am a sinner bound for hell. I am thankful that Jesus died for me.
Second, I am humbled that Jesus Christ called me for His ministry. Spreading the gospel is the most important task in the world. It is humbling that Jesus chose me.
Third, I am thankful for a wife who loves ne. Being a Pastor’s wife is not easy. Holli has done without some things that others have. But she has never complained. I am thankful for a loving and supportive wife.
Fourth, I am thankful for three kids who love the Lord. Robert and Will attend North Metro and Sarah attends West Cobb. Each one loves their church. We are thankful.
Fifth, I am thankful for Parents who worked hard and taught me to be honest. I am thankful they made church a priority in our lives.
Finally, I am thankful for friends. Some of my happiest moments have been with friends. I am thankful for loyal, understanding friends.
If life were like a football game, I’m probably close to the fourth quarter. I hope I live into my eighties but, that’s in the Lord’s hands. I know this; I want to make my life count for Jesus. I want to be a bolder witness for Christ. I want to give more to kingdom work. I want to make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you, Jesus, for fifty-give good years.
