The “Shema”

I like to sum things up. I’m not interested in lots of verbiage…I prefer for someone to get to the bottom line. Like someone said, “Don’t tell me about the labor pains, just show me the baby.”      In Deuteronomy 6:4-5, the Lord sums things up for Israel. These verses are known as the “Shema” because the word “Listen” is the word “Shema” in Hebrew.
God says, “Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”
Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Those verses are a good summary for us as well. God reminds us that we are to have no other Gods before Jehovah God. Join me in putting God first in all we do.
