“Because I’m Happy”

“I can’t get no satisfaction! I can’t get no, satisfaction!
Cause I tried, And I tried, And I tried, And I tried
I can’t get No, I can’t get no.”
Those lyrics may not be verbatim but, you remember the song. The Rolling Stones were singing about me at times and possibly even you. In our modern culture, many are unhappy. Not content.. although we can be.
In John 6:35 Jesus said, “I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Jesus was talking about food but, He was also talking about more than food. He was talking about peace, satisfaction, contentment. As Christians, we can find peace, happiness and contentment in Jesus.
That means, regardless how much money we have, we are content. Regardless what we drive, we are content. We are happy.. satisfied. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong to strive for more but, we are happy regardless.
In our materialistic, worldly culture, it’s not easy to be content. We are constantly encouraged to buy the latest gadget, take a trip, buy new clothes… even if we don’t need them. So, it can be tough to be content.
Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Jesus wants us to be happy… to enjoy life.. to be satisfied.
We started off with an old Rolling Stones song. Let’s close with a newer one.. Pharrell Williams has a song that goes;
“Because I’m happy, Come along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy, Come along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy, clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do.”
Jesus wants us to be happy. Doesn’t matter what size your house is, what type car you drive or what your income is. Jesus is the bread of life. He supplies our needs.
