Several years ago, our family went to Florida for a week of vacation. There was a family in the condo right next to us. We talked with them throughout the week and went out to eat with them some.
The man in this family was from Jackson, MS. As we talked, he told me that when he was in the Jackson area, he lived a kind of wild life. One day, I asked him if he was familiar with something and he said, “In those days, there is not telling what I was doing.” When he said that, he had a very sad look on his face. He was ashamed of some of his former actions.
I am like this man… I’m ashamed of some things I did in the past. But, the Bible says God will roll away our shame. In Joshua 5:12, the Lord told Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.”
God rolled away the same of slavery for the people of Egypt. God will do the same for us. Maybe there is something you did in the past that really bothers you. You’ve asked for forgiveness but, the memory of it bothers you. If we give it to the Lord, God will roll away our shame.
Today, maybe there is something you need to give to the Lord. Something you need to ask the Lord to roll away. And, one final note… Don’t constantly remind others of their past. Yes, lots of folks made mistakes… I have… you have… But the Lord has forgiven us. Move on… The Lord rolls away our shame.
