There is a man that I’ve known for about thirty years who is in a local hospital in Mississippi. His name is Kenneth Stewart. Kenneth is from Gillsburg, MS. Kenneth is struggling but he is surrounded by a strong family. He has a brother and two sisters. The whole family loves the Lord and serves Christ. That family, is leaning on their Christian faith right now to help them through this time. They are a living example of Proverbs 12:7 which says, ” The wicked die and disappear, but the family of the godly stands firm.”
“The family of the godly stands firm…” That speaks of the importance of the home. The home is the basic unit of society. And, as Pope John Paul II said years ago “As the home goes, so goes the nation.” Everything we are facing in society today comes from the break-down of the home.
I have said before that I drive a shuttle for a local car dealership. Recently I picked up a young lady who is a teacher at an elementary school. She told me that there are lots of kids who come from broken homes and how difficult it is, at times, to let them go home. Sometimes, the kids don’t want to go home. That is a sad commentary on our society.
Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds a house they labor in vain who build it.”
The Stewart family has lived for Christ for years. I encourage you to live for Christ and make your home a Godly home. There is a Bible verse that many people have put on the walls of their home that says, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Make that your commitment as well.
