When you have a problem, who do you trust? To whom do you go to for help?
Often times, if we have a problem, we immediately think of things we can do. Maybe we call someone whom we think can help us. We remember the old adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” So, we contact people who are well-connected.
But, our first step of action should be to just trust in the Lord. The is nothing wrong with calling someone but, that shouldn’t be our first step. I admit, I’m guilty of this.
Many times, when facing problems, my first instinct is to call someone. But the Lord tells us to trust Him. Psalm 44:6-7 reads, “I do not trust in my bow; I do not count on my sword to save me. You are the one who gives us victory over our enemies..”
Notice the Psalmist says, “I do not trust in my bow or my sword.” The bow and the sword were two very important pieces of warfare. Yet, the Psalmist is saying, “That’s not my first move… that’s not my first step.” Instead, the Psalmist trusts God.
Today, maybe you are facing a challenge.. a problem of some kind.. You may have already called someone but you are trying to think of someone else to call. Trust the Lord. The Lord may put someone’s name on your heart to call but, let your first step be to trust the Lord.
If you think about it… I guess the old adage is true… It’s not WHAT you know… it’s WHO you know.. and if you are a Christian, you KNOW the Lord.
