Are you hurting? Are you discouraged? Are you brokenhearted?
Lots of people are. Some are having marital problems. Some have lost jobs. Some have children that have rebelled. Some are going through a divorce or, they’ve lost a loved one. It happens.
And when it does, what do we do? Well, when we are down, we hope to be able to rely on our friends or our church or our family and most of the time we can. But. there are times and situations when none of those are there.
Maybe we feel like we don’t have a friend to our name. Or we come from a major dysfunctional family so, there is no family available. And, there are times when the church drops the ball. So. what then? Well the Bible says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted” (Psalms 34:18). This means the Lord is concerned for the brokenhearted. But. HOW is God near the brokenhearted?
God can be near us through Christian friends. God can be near us through music. God can be near us through His word. There are many scriptures that speak to the hurt of being brokenhearted.
If you are brokenhearted the Lord cares for you. If you are hurting, in your mind, get on your sofa or in your favorite chair or in your bed. Pull your favorite blanket up and let God love you.
Habakkuk said years ago, “Though the fig tree should not blossom and their be no fruit on the vine; though the yield of the olive should fail and their be no cattle m the stalls. yet I will exult in Thee O God” (3:17-19).
God is close to the brokenhearted.
