Are you concerned about the future? Maybe you are concerned that your company is about to downsize and you could lose your job. Or, there are other things that concern you. You try to plan for the future but, you just can’t plan for everything.
David was in the same boat. He was facing some adversity. His enemies were advancing and he didn’t know what the future held. While we were in Israel, we went to an area where our guide said, it was believed David may have hid from Saul in that area.
So David prayed. He prayed and he asked the Lord for protection. David prayed, “But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands” (Psalm 31:14-15). Some translations translate that verse to read, “My times are in your hands.”
Today, you may not know what lies around the corner. You may not know what today will bring. So, as David prayed, “My times are in Thy hands.”
There is an old gospel song that goes;
“I don’t worry about tomorrow, I just live from day to day,
I don’t borrow from it’s sunshine, For the skies may turn to gray.
I don’t worry o’er the future, For I know what Jesus said,
And today he’ll walk beside me, For He knows what lies ahead.
Many things about tomorrow, I don’t seem to understand.
But I know who holds tomorrow, And I know who holds my hand.”
