Tomorrow, Lord willing, I will preach a message at FBC Emerson. I’ve been doing this for about thirty-one years. In addition to that, for three years I was a Music and Youth Director. Thirty-five years ago, I never saw it happening.
I grew up in the country. My Dad was a dairy-farmer. I went to a small high school, Spring Creek. I grew up in a small church, East Fork Baptist. I enjoyed meeting people but beyond that, I didn’t have much to offer. My grammar wasn’t the best. I didn’t know much Bible. I would have never dreamed, back then, that God would use me, Gregg Potts, in the ministry. But He did. He looked past my flaws and used me.
I wasn’t the smartest guy around. I didn’t graduate “magna cum laude, but lordie how come.” Like Zig Ziglar once said, “I was in the part of the class that made the upper half possible.”
But, in spite of those things, the Lord called me.. One of my favorite verses is Amos 7:14; “I am not a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but a herdsman and gatherer of sycamore figs; but the Lord called me and told me to prophesy.”
The Lord can use as well. Don’t focus on your flaws or your past… God is looking at your future. Just like He did me.
