An Update On The Retreat

Friends:
As many of you know, at the beginning of March, Holli and I began the process of planting a church.  It is named "The Retreat."  It is a place where anyone, regardless of their past, can find the love and grace of Jesus. We are focusing on hurting and unchurched people.  I've attached a newsletter updating you on the status of The Retreat.  Click the following link to view the newsletter;
Please take a moment and click the attached link.  Please read the newsletter and, please keep us in prayer.  Some of you have already made contributions to The Retreat and these are greatly appreciated.  As with any ministry, our financial needs are ongoing.  If you can help us financially, it would be greatly appreciated.  If you would like to help us financially, you can go to our website www.theretreatdallas.com, look at the top of the page and you will see the word "giving."  Click that link and it will lead you to a place where you can give online.  Also, you can mail a gift if you prefer.  Our address is The Retreat at Dallas; P.O. Box 2562, Dallas, Ga.  30132.
This past Sunday a young lady who is a recovering drug addict attended The Retreat.  After the service, she approached me and said she enjoyed the message.  I asked her if we could talk.  We did and she indicated she had never asked Christ into her life.  As we talked, this young lady prayed and asked Jesus into her heart.  Tonight, Holli and I picked her up and took her to her Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Your financial gifts to The Retreat allow Holli and me to minister to hurting people like this young lady.  Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial gifts if you feel led.

A Personal Word from
         In March of this year, after lots of networking, prayer and thought, Holli and I felt the Lord leading us to plant a church.  After prayer we felt led to name the church The Retreat.  The Retreat is a place where a person can find love and acceptance regardless of their past.  We exist to minister to the hurting and extend God’s love to everyone.
We have been meeting for about four-and-one-half months and are averaging about 25 in attendance.  We are very thankful for those who have decided to become core group members of The Retreat.  These folks are making some sacrifices to be a part of building a new church.  They are very special to me.
The Lord is allowing us to reach a variety of people.  We are reaching some who have had bad experiences in church and others who have experienced some tough times in life.  We want to be a place where anyone.. regardless of past... can feel comfortable.

  Please pray for us.

First, a word of PRAISE.  Sunday, June 12th, we had our first convert.   Thank the Lord!

Pray for  people who are willing to be core families to join us.  We need additional families who are willing to deal with the sacrifices and adjustments required in a church plant.  Pray that God would speak to the hearts of  people to join with us.

       Pray that Jesus will bless our invitations.  Every week I invite people through face-to-face, facebook, text messaging, email, etc..to join us at The Retreat.  Pray that God’s Holy Spirit will convict people who need Jesus to join us.

       Pray for financial resources.  The Retreat started with Holli, me,  and one young lady.  We did not start with families from an existing church, consequently our financial resources are limited.
       When Holli and I felt the Lord leading us to plant a church we accepted that it would be a financial sacrifice.  The Retreat is touching people most existing churches are not going to reach.  Would you be willing to help us by giving financially?

       If you or your Sunday School class or your church could help us by  giving on a monthly basis, making a one-time contribution or possibly taking up a love offering for us, it would be greatly appreciated.

C. Peter Wagner is a respected leader in the area of church growth and evangelism.  He says “The single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches.”

So, if you want to invest your money in evangelism and building the kingdom of God, there is no better place than in planting churches.

       To make a contribution, please go to www.theretreatdallas.org or mail to The Retreat at Dallas, P.O. Box 2562, Dallas, GA   30132.

Thanks,  Gregg
