Mom and Dad... God got me pregnant
Women get pregnant all the time..
But suppose a young lady tells her parents, "Mom and Dad, I need tot talk with you."
"Ok," her parents say, "what do you need, honey?"
"Mom and Dad, I'm pregnant."
Whoa! Wow!
Mom and Dad can't believed what they just heard... their daughter is pregnant. Problem is, she isn't married... Oh, she's dating this boy but... she's supposed to know better.
Wow! Pregnant?
Mom and Dad look at one another as if to say "WHAT are we doing to do?"
But, they quickly gather themselves and tell their daughter, "Ok, honey... it's ok.. we can handle this.. It will be ok.."
Then, Dad says "Honey, who's the Dad? Is it the boy you've been dating?"
The daughter says "Weeelll... "
The parents look at one another with a quizical look
Then, the daughter says "God got me pregnant."
Silence
Mouths drop open
Mom and Dad look at one another AGAIN...
They are both thinking "Did we just hear what we THOUGHT we heard?"
Dad shakes his head and says "Honey, surely I misunderstood you... You are telling us... God got you pregnant?"
The daughter shakes her head affirming what Dad just said.
Dad chuckles and says "Ok, honey.. I know this is tough on you but.. you don't have to lie... We love you and will stand by you regardless who the father of the child is."
The daughter says "Dad, I'm not lying... God got me pregnant."
Maybe you are like those parents and you have difficulty believing that God could get a woman pregnant. If so, you aren't alone. But, the Bible says that's exactly how Jesus was born.. God caused His mother, Mary, to conceive and she gave birth to Jesus, the Savior of the world.
This story gives us the doctrine or Bible teaching of the virgin birth.. that is, that Mary got pregnant by the Holy spirit and gave birth to a son named Jesus.
But why was the virgin birth necessary?
Let's go back to the beginning of time.. Man sinned in the garden of Eden and when he did, he was separated from God. Because of Adam's sin.. every person who has come into the world since the beginning of time until the end of time comes into the world as a sinner... because we are descendants of Adam.
Ok, God saw the condition of man and knew that man needed a Savior.
But, the problem was, when a person is born.. they inherit the original sin of Adam which means they are a sinner. The Savior had to have had to be perfect with no sin. So, God caused the womb of a young lady to open and God caused her to conceive and she gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
This is known as the virgin birth because Mary was a virgin (had not had sexual intercourse) before Jesus was born.
Now, as you can imagine, this teaching has lots of scoffers...
People say "wait a minute... that doesn't make sense..."
And, if we are honest; yes, it's hard to believe. I mean, it's miraculous!
But, although it's hard to believe, I believe it happened and I know it had to happen.
Ok, so someone might say "Wait a minute; how can you say with certainty it happened?" Because I believe the Bible and the Bible says it happened.
Jesus was virgin born. And the same power that caused a virgin to conceive is available to help you with any problems you might have.
