I Am Only One But I Am Still One

Last night Holli and I watched the movie "The Blind Side."  If you have seen it, you know that's a very good movie.
There were two scenes... among  many.. that reminded me of the power of one.
The first scene was when the Ohr family saw "Big Mike" walking in the rain.  They could have easily driven off.  But they didn't.  They stopped and asked where he was going.  He was going to the gym because it was warm.  The lady could have gotten back in her car and driven off and said "poor kid."  But.. well, you know the story.  Big Mike got in the car and drove with this family to their home and slept safe, warm and dry that night.
Eventually this family adopts Michael.  He's given a bedroom, they buy him a truck and hire a tutor to help him prepare for college.
A second scene was when a teacher discovered that "Big Mike" could learn.  The other teachers didn't see it.  They didn't understand "Big Mike."  But this teacher saw something that helped her to see that "Big Mike" could learn.  Again, the power of one teacher taking interest in one student.
A third scene was when Mrs. Ohr marches onto the football practice field and explains to "Big Mike" that his job is to "protect" his team.  She said this because "Big Mike" understood the need to protect.  From that point on, he became a dominant offensive tackled and earned a scholarship to Ole MIss.  Now, "Big Mike" had been playing football but his coaches were having difficult getting through to him.  Until this scene.  "Big Mike" didn't understand football.  But this scene changed everything.
Each of these examples highlight the power of one.
         One family helped one kid.
         One teacher helped one student.
One lady understood how to connect with one kid.
Is there one person God wants you to reach out to?
There is an old saying that illustrates the power of one.

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

Determine to do what you can do.
