Christians Can Enjoy Life... Really... We Can... Read On.
If you follow this blog you know that I'm a major fan of the TV mini-series Lonesome Dove. There is a scene where Woodrow says something about having fun.
Gus responds "Fun? Woodrow, what do you know about fun? Fun is my department!"
I admit; I enjoy having fun. I enjoy a good laugh. I like hearing a good joke.
Country comedian Jerry Clower once said "There ain't but one place there ain't gonna be any fun (hell) and I've made arrangements to stay away from there!"
Jesus said "I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly."
Jesus wants his people to enjoy life.
I think it says a lot that the first miracle Jesus performed was performed at a wedding. Weddings are happy occasions. So Christians should enjoy life.
This Sunday, at The Retreat in Dallas, we will look at how Christians need to have fun.
For some reason we have this idea that Christians are supposed to walk around looking sour
all the time. But that's not true. Jesus wants us to enjoy life.
